Thanks to everyone for all the follows and support as I begin this next chapter of my career!

In a few weeks, I’ll be accepting criminal appointments in southern Oakland County and I can’t wait to be back in the courtroom, advocating for the most just and fair outcome in every case!

For now, here’s a picture of some of the plants that adorn almost every surface in my office. A little bit of sunshine and greenery brings life into every space. 😊

From a young age, Shelby was destined to be an attorney. Shelby’s favorite field trips as a child were to her father’s and grandfather’s law office in Dearborn, MI, where she got to play with copy machines, fax machines, and doodle on legal paper. As Shelby got older, her first job was working as a legal assistant for her father and grandfather. Shelby spent many summers both in high school and college at the family law firm, aiding in scheduling appointments, communicating with clients, and drafting wills and trusts.

Shelby is a U of M alumni (go blue!), graduating with High Distinction from U of M Dearborn in December 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After undergrad, Shelby was accepted at many law schools across the state, being offered scholarships at all of them, but she ultimately decided to follow in her father’s, grandfather’s, and great-grandfather’s footsteps and attend Wayne State University Law School. While in law school, Shelby gained invaluable litigation experience by participating in the Mock Trial program, being named Best Oralist in Winter 2021. Shelby also interned at Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, where she was able to practice law under the supervision of active attorneys. Shelby graduated law school in May 2022 and passed the bar exam on her first try later that summer.

Shelby was sworn in as an attorney in November 2022, and began her career as an attorney at Oakland County Prosecutor's Office in December 2022. Shelby handled various misdemeanors, felonies, juvenile delinquency cases, and representing the Department of Health and Human Services in child abuse and neglect proceedings. During her time at the Prosecutor's Office, she conducted over 50 preliminary examinations on felony charges ranging from Resisting and Obstructing to Assault with Intent to Murder with a 100% success rate. She also conducted numerous jury and bench trials with approximately an 80%-win rate. Shelby's time at the Prosecutor's Office provided her with an expertise in quickly evaluating cases for evidentiary issues, strategizing for trial, successfully admitting evidence in court, arguing motions on issues from parenting time to violations of constitutional rights, and navigating the nuances of juvenile law.

On a personal note, Shelby is the proud mom of two fur-babies, Muffin and Teddy, who will both be making appearances on Shelby's social media periodically. Muffin was Shelby's law school graduation gift from her now-husband, and Teddy joined the family a year later. Both dogs are Shelby's constant companions when she is working from home, preferring to sit in her lap getting petted instead of relaxing on one of the many dog beds laying around the house.
