My name is Scott Steele and I am a Realtor at Century 21 Associates Realty. I was born, raised and have lived in Fall River most of my life. As a child I lived in Somerset for a few years before returning to back to Fall River. I attended Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School in Fall River, MA. I studied Mechanical Drafting and graduated in June of 2000. Shortly after graduation I began

working at a residential home for troubled youth. I worked with children and families to develop the skills they needed to succeed in school, to return home and stay home. During this time I had the opportunity to meet and work with some amazing people to help them meet their goals and create a better life for them and their families. The relationships I made, skills, and knowledge I developed working with families has helped me become the person I am today. In 2007 my wife and I began the search for our first home and in May 2008 we finally found and closed on a two family fixer upper in Fall River. For the next 6 months we renovated the home and planned our wedding. In October 2008 we successfully finished remodeling, had our wedding and moved into our first home. During this whole process I met some amazing people and learned a lot about the home buying process and ways to remodel a home to get the most return for your dollar. After going through this process I realized I wanted to continue to help people and their families achieve their goals but in a different way. I decided to become a realtor and share the knowledge I gained going through it myself with others. It is not only my goal but my promise to make the home buying or selling process a stress free, smooth and enjoyable experience. Unpopular opinion: the home inspection period isn't a second negotiation on price.

I see it constantly, buyers go into inspection thinking it's their chance to chip away at the number they already agreed to. It's not. Inspections are for discovery and major repairs, not a redo on a price you already accepted.

A good listing agent prices the home based on its actual condition and is upfront about known issues from day one. A good buyer's agent does the same and walks the home during the first showing, flags likely inspection items early, and helps their buyer make an offer that reflects what they're actually seeing, not what they hope to negotiate down later.

If both sides do their job right, inspection day shouldn't be a surprise. It should just confirm what everyone already knew.
