Hey Facebook Friends! Wanted to share a little update about my practice.

In the last few months, I have started to concentrate mostly on Real Estate Law and Probate Law. It has given me so much joy to help people close on their new houses and see how exciting this new chapter can be for people!

Since I am also a Title Agent and write our own title policies here, I can do everything from beginning to end including write up contracts, communicate and work with local Realtors, research title, communicate with lenders about mortgages, close on the property and finalize title.

I love every step of the process and I would like to continue growing my practice in Real Estate law.

So, if you are a local realtor in Baldwin County, I would love to work with you and provide you and your clients with the best legal and title services. With me, you can get everything done in one place. And I assure you, if there are any issues with the property, I will work non-stop to rectify those issues so nothing comes in the way of your clients and their new homes!

Also, if you are a Buyer and Seller and your Realtor doesn't know about me, you can request that I handle your closing! It would be my pleasure to help you either sell or buy your home!

Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help you!

Thanks everyone and I hope everyone has a great and safe Labor Day Weekend!

It’s amazing that someone so accomplished and wealthy would not have a Last Will and Testament. Even if you don’t have a large estate, you still need a Will to appoint a Personal Representative, someone who can access your estate upon death. This is tremendously helpful when you’re going through a time of grief and need to address asset issues. People do not realize how important these instruments are until it’s too late.

The singer's estate will likely be hammered out in probate court in Oakland County.

Do you have a Will?

You would be surprised at the amount of people that don't and how complicated it can be if you pass away without one.

If you don't, call me and let's get a plan in place.

Here is a great article about why you should have one:

When making a will, you decide who stands to inherit your property or assets. Learn what a will and testament does and doesn't cover and why you need one.

Happy November everyone! I am now in my 2nd year of practicing law in Fairhope and I am so excited about the future!

I wanted to share something with all of you that I've been thinking about lately.

Most of the time when I meet someone new and I introduce myself, I pretty much know the dreaded question that is coming next.

"So Leah, what do you do?" Whenever I respond with, "I'm a lawyer", it never fails, they either roll their eyes or apologize that I'm a lawyer.

Now y'all - I know there are some characters out there, but did you know that lawyers can actually be good people and do good work? My grandfather was a prime example. He helped so many people as a lawyer. He used to barter his services if a client couldn't pay him. Now my grandmother did not always approve of that method of payment, but John Duck wanted to help people.

And so do I. I want to be one of those "good lawyers" who earnestly fight to help their clients and do right by them.

We get to do some pretty amazing and happy things, like bring families together by adoption or help you close on your first home.

And when things are not so happy and life gets hard because you are maybe going through a divorce or you have lost a family member, we can be there beside you to hold your hand and say it's going to be okay. I try my hardest to make those times a little less painful for my clients.

So next time someone introduces themselves to you and they happen to be a lawyer, don't roll your eyes or assume the worst, they might be one of the good ones!
