Gar practices with the firm Blume & Blume in Northport, AL, with his wife Nettie Cohen Blume, and their daughter, Rachel Cohen Blume. Gar’s practice primarily focuses on trials and appeals of juvenile court and criminal defense matters. In June 2015, Gar was presented with ACDLA’s Roderick Beddow Award for Lifetime Achievement in the field of Criminal Defense.

⛵ Meet Shelbie Hankey & Elizabeth Standifer⛵

Shelbie is the founding attorney of Hankey Law Firm, LLC in Cullman, Alabama, where she has practiced since 2007 with a focus on family law. An advocate for her clients —including survivors of domestic violence and the vulnerable children she has represented for years as a guardian ad litem — she founded the Cullman County Women’s Bar Association and is the incoming Cullman County Bar President for 2026–2027.

Elizabeth is a third-year law student at Samford University’s Cumberland School of Law. After spending much of her adolescence in Alabama foster care and experiencing 12 different moves during high school, Elizabeth brings a unique perspective to questions surrounding children’s voices and participation in the legal proceedings that directly affect their lives.

Dr. Kable is a Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and is a licensed pediatric psychologist who has over 30 years of experience working with children with neurodevelopment disabilities with a particular focus on children with a history of prenatal alcohol exposure.
