I’m proud to represent the family of Robby Talbot in an important case against employees of the Connecticut Department of Corrections. These correctional employees participated in a use of force that took his life including four different applications of OC (pepper) spray, a kick to his upper head/shoulder area, and forcibly chaining him up in solitary confinement. where he was left without receiving any required medical care or decontamination despite being in obvious need of assistance. Guards failed to check on him after he was locked in his contaminated cell and he was found dead 90 minutes later.
Robby was a non-violent offender and had been placed back in custody two days before for a minor parole violation. He suffered from mental illness since he was in his early teens, but was a loved son, brother and friend. I’m attaching the link to a beautiful article published about Robby just after his death in 2019 as well as a link to the most recent Hearst article describing that even the Connecticut Attorney General’s office believes the actions of the supervising Lieutenant that led to the homicide of this young man were ‘wanton, reckless and malicious’. Despite this, the family’s fight to hold these state employees responsible for their actions goes on.
