We're often asked, "How can you defend people like that?" This question doesn't offend us. We understand it emanates from our need to feel safe. This need manifests in an "if only" logic that the system should be tougher rather than just. But unfortunately, this thinking erodes the foundation of all of our rights.
We defend these kinds of cases because the integrity of the American legal system depends on it. While the necessity of a rigorous defense may feel distant or abstract to some, its value becomes undeniably clear the moment it's your own rights or those of a family member at stake.
