It was a great opportunity to connect with professionals dedicated to supporting older adults and vulnerable individuals, exchange perspectives, and learn more about the challenges facing families, care teams, and facilities.

Kia Kondori, Esq. Waseem Moorad, Esq., Mariam Ashraf, Esq., Riya Hadvani, Jaqueline Fuentes, and Karley Regalado had the opportunity to connect with attendees throughout the event.

We’re grateful to VALA for bringing together such a dedicated community and for allowing us to be part of this important conversation.

Always learning. Always evolving.

Members of the Kondori & Moorad, LLP team, Karley Regalado, Saskia Willut, and Ryan Moses, recently traveled to Birmingham, Alabama, to attend a Legal Marketing Association program, thanks to the opportunity provided by Partner Waseem Moorad.

The program offered valuable insights into emerging trends in artificial intelligence, technology, and legal marketing.

Founding partner Kia Kondori recently presented at the 8th World Congress on Adult Capacity at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he explored the critical role guardianship proceedings play in protecting vulnerable adults. His presentation highlighted how thoughtful legal planning—from properly drafted guardianship petitions to safeguarding financial assets—can help families avoid costly delays and ensure loved ones receive the care they need when it matters most. We are proud to share our experience on the global stage while continuing to advocate for individuals and families throughout our community.

We’re proud to share that founding partner, Waseem Moorad, presented at the 8th World Congress on Adult Capacity in Amsterdam last week at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, joining professionals from around the world to discuss one of today’s most pressing issues facing society today: financial abuse of elderly and vulnerable adults. His presentation focused on recognizing financial exploitation that often occurs in trusted relationships—highlighting the importance of education, due diligence, and protecting vulnerable adults before irreversible harm occurs. Our law firm is honored to contribute to these global conversations while continuing to advocate for individuals and families here at home.

Most people think estate planning is something you do after retirement. It's not.

In fact, the people who often benefit the most from having an estate plan are those who are actively building their lives.

If you:
• Own a home
• Have children
• Recently got married
• Operate a business
• Have retirement or investment accounts
• Want a trusted family member making medical or financial decisions in the event you are unable to
..then estate planning isn't about age. It's about being prepared.

One of the most difficult conversations we have are with families who assumed they had "plenty of time." The truth is that an estate plan isn't really about what happens to you – it's about making things easier for the people you love if the unexpected happens. The last thing your loved ones want is to pick up the pieces you left behind and deal with the judicial system for at least a year.

At Kondori & Moorad, LLP, we help individuals and families throughout Virginia, Maryland, and DC, create estate plans that reflect their wishes and protect what matters most.

If you've been putting it off because you thought you were "too young," you're not alone. Maybe it's time to have the conversation.

Every 60 seconds, an older adult in the United States experiences abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

Today, on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we recognize one of the most underreported threats facing older adults: financial exploitation. Elder abuse is not always physical. It can appear as sudden changes to estate plans, pressure to sign legal documents, unexplained asset transfers, or misuse of trust by caregivers or family members. At Kondori & Moorad, LLP, we help families navigate these concerns and protect older adults and vulnerable individuals.

We’re also proud that attorney Waseem Moorad will be speaking on issues related to elder financial exploitation at The World Congress on Adult Capacity conference next month in Amsterdam, helping bring attention to challenges facing older adults both here and abroad. If something doesn’t feel right, trust your instincts. Seeking guidance early can make all the difference.
