Quick question for Virginia parents 👇

Does your child have an IEP or a 504 plan?

A lot of parents aren't sure which one their child has, or what the real difference is. And that's not their fault; schools don't always explain it clearly.

Here's the short version:

✅ IEP = specialized instruction + individualized goals + stronger legal protections (under IDEA)
✅ 504 = accommodations only + no specialized instruction + fewer legal protections (under the Rehabilitation Act)

Both can help. But they are not equal, and some children who have 504 plans should have IEPs instead, based on what the law says they qualify for.
