More than three million children in the U.S. were involved in an investigation or other intervention for suspected abuse or neglect in 2021, the latest year with available data. Child welfare agencies say that out of those interventions, only about 600,000 cases were substantiated.

More than 3 million U.S. children were involved in an intervention for suspected abuse or neglect in a single year. Advocates say a disproportionate impact on families of color makes reform urgent.

Police are searching for Amanda M. Dinges after Child Protective Services reported she may have kidnapped a 5-year-old.

It's the most wonderful time of year! Time for the annual ABC holiday gift drive! Last year, because of your generous support, we were able to have our most successful year ever! Because of you, over 300 children in the child welfare system were able to receive gifts, and not just any gift - the gift that they asked for. This year is extra special because ABC is teaming up with the non-profit FIRST Legal Clinic.

Unfortunately we lost one of our single biggest sponsors of the holiday gift drive and so we need your help in pursuing our mission to bring a happy holiday to children involved in the child welfare system. As always, we will continue to post our Amazon wish list, full of actual requests from children and families. However, if you or your employer would like to make a tax deductible donation to FIRST Legal Clinic, 100% of the proceeds will go to families in need this holiday season.
