Did you know a study from 1967 estimates 93% of all communication is Non- Verbal? 55% is body language, 38% is tone, and that leaves 7% as actual words.
But that only applies to certain circumstances.
The 3 C's can provide a better understanding. Context, Cluster, and Congruence.
What is the context of what the person is stating - the environment the person is speaking in and to?
Is the person providing a Single movement of body language or is there a Cluster of indicators to provide a more whole communication?
And finally, does the actions match, or fall congruent, with the verbal statements?
By working in this manner, your understanding of what is being communicated can become more reliable.
