Hutchinson Cox We deliver expert, effective legal counsel, shaped by a genuine understanding of each client’s needs. We would be honored to be your advocate.

Our firm was founded in 1970 by attorneys Steve Hutchinson and John Cox in Eugene, Oregon. Since its inception, we have always sought attorneys who are honest and empathetic, have integrity, and are committed to giving back to this community. CLIENT SERVICE
We are strongly committed to our clients and dedicated to their success. We value relationships and make it our business to understand the uni

que personal situations of each client. We have an experienced and dedicated staff who will work closely with you on your case and keep you informed of all activity. Each attorney in our firm has expertise in several areas of the law, and your Hutchinson Cox lawyer has access to other attorneys within the firm to provide you with thorough and sound advice in a wide range of areas, including litigation. FINANCIAL MATTERS
The cost of legal services can be high, and we are sensitive to that. During our initial conference with you, we will discuss our fees and costs and explain billing procedures. A new rule is about to go into affect that may impact your business. Learn more 👇

The Federal Trade Commission recently published a final rule that impacts business owners in Eugene. This rule effectively bans all non-compete agreements between employers and “workers” as unfair methods of competition. It also prohibits employers from enforcing most existing non-competes. The rule applies nationwide, regardless of state laws allowing such agreements. The rule is set to go into effect on September 4, 2024.

We recently hosted a reception for the University of Oregon and the Lane County Bar Association's current class of Law Fellows. This highly selective program is designed to help diversify Oregon’s legal community. Fellows receive a paid internship for their first summer in law school, a scholarship throughout law school, and more resources to help them succeed in their legal career.

Congratulations to Brad Litchfield, partner at Hutchinson Cox!

Last week, he was awarded the Joseph M. Kosydar Award for Professionalism by the Lane County Bar Association. The award was established in 1999, in memory of Joseph Kosydar, a long-time Lane County Deputy District Attorney. Local judges, who valued Joe’s professionalism and civility created the award to periodically recognize attorneys in the Bar who exemplify those same qualities. Our own Frank Gibson was a recipient of this award as well back in 2013.
