Lane County has learned about a scam email targeting people involved in active land use permit applications.

The email looks like it came from Lane County and asks the recipient to 𝐩𝐚𝐲 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐞𝐫 to finish their permit. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐚𝐦.

Lane County will never:
❌Ask you to pay by wire transfer, cryptocurrency, or gift card.
❌ Ask for your bank account, PIN, or access codes.

Before you respond to an email, watch for warning signs:
❌ The sender's email address doesn't end in .gov.
❌ You're asked to pay in an unusual way, like a wire transfer.
❌ You're pressured to act quickly or only communicate by email.
