There is a trend lately for people to represent themselves. I understand that people want to save money; however, it is generally a good idea to have an attorney review what you are doing. The cost of a consultation is very low and the savings could be great. I am happy to help people save money when they can. I have been doing this for 30 years with my down to earth and practical approach to solving people's problems.
Sometimes having an attorney can SAVE you a LOT of money. Also certain areas like bankruptcy should almost never be done without a lawyer. Practicing law isn't just about filling in blanks on a form. Some simple divorces can be done without attorneys, but a lawyer should be consulted to make sure it truly is simple. Problems can arise many years later when things are not done correctly. I have seen people think they have no assets because they don't own anything together. They fail to deal with a house, pension or other property item one or the other owns or owned before the marriage, which can cause future problems.
