Michael Monce: Children’s Supplemental Security Income Lawyer

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a program that awards benefits to children with disabilities.

The child must be part of a family with limited income or assets and meet the Social Security Administration's strict definition of disability.

Social Security Administration defines a disabled child as being under the age of 18 with a mental or physical condition resulting in marked and extreme functional limitations. The condition must be documented by medical evidence and last or be expected to last at least 12 months or end in death.

An example of a physical impairment that might qualify for Children's Supplemental Security Income could be a respiratory disorder such as cystic fibrosis while a mental disorder could be an autism spectrum disorder.

To qualify for Social Security disability benefits, you need to have worked a certain number of years and paid into the system through federal withholding taxes.

Supplemental Security Income is awarded to individuals who don’t have enough work credits and meet Social Security’s strict medical eligibility requirements.

If you think you meet the Social Security Administration’s definitions for disability, call the law office of Michael Monce at (859)344-8090.
