The beginning of 2023 has been an eventful time for The Fauver Law Firm -- in addition to Corey Wengerd becoming a Shareholder, Jim Taylor and Erik Breunig have joined the firm as Of Counsel.

Educated at Ohio University and Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, Attorney Taylor has 42 years of legal experience. Jim started practicing law in 1981 as an associate with Bennet & Harbarger Co., L.P.A.. In 1983, he started his own practice as James N. Taylor, Attorney at Law and left that to become a partner with Baumgartner, Breunig, & Taylor Co., L.P.A. in 1984. Jim was with the firm until 1997 when he started James N. Taylor Co., L.P.A, which became Taylor, Breunig & Robinson Co., L.P.A.. He became a sole practitioner in 2012 until recently joining the Fauver Law. Jim concentrates his practice in the areas of business law, real estate and estate planning. He has assisted over 200 business clients in the formation of their entities, businesses operations, litigation matters and the buying and selling of business entities. His real estate practice centers around the assistance to clients in buying and selling real estate, working with realtors, developers and contractors and also assisting various title companies. His probate practice includes estate planning and probating estates for clients in Northeast Ohio. Jim primarily practices in Lorain County and its contiguous counties. He is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association and Lorain County Bar Association.

Attorney Breunig is a graduate of Ohio University and the University of Akron School of Law, Erik has been practicing law in Lorain County since 2004. He is admitted to practice before the Ohio Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio. Erik began his career as an associate with the Elyria law firm of Taylor, Breunig & Robinson before forming The Breunig Law Firm with his father, Kurt A. Breunig, until Kurt’s passing in 2013. Since then, Erik continued as a sole practitioner until joining Fauver in 2023. Erik’s practice is largely concentrated in public entity law. While Of Counsel with Fauver, he continues to serve the City of Elyria as its Chief Assistant Law Director. His political subdivision clients have included the Village of Grafton, Pittsfield Township, the Village of New London, and the City of Oberlin. Erik continues to concentrate his practice in the areas of municipal law, land use and zoning, commercial and residential real estate, estate and business succession planning, and probate, as well as litigation matters revolving around those practice areas. He is a member of the Lorain County and Ohio State Bar Associations, the Ohio Municipal Attorneys’ Association, and the Northeast Ohio Law Directors’ Association. Erik resides in Eaton Township with his wife, their two children, and an ornery rescued terrier mix.

Excellent Article from the Ohio State Bar Association on Ohio's new Limited Liability Company Act that went into effect February 11, 2022. All Operating Agreements for LLC's formed after that date must comply with the new law, and an existing limited liability company should consult with legal counsel to determine whether adopting an Amended and Restated Operating Agreement conforming with the new law is required or prudent.
