The Major Arena Soccer League announced Tuesday that league owners awarded new men's and women's expansion teams to the Sacramento-Cordova region. A new arena in Rancho Cordova was also part of the announcement.

The proposal for the arena, a 7,500-seat venue designed to anchor a new entertainment district on Kilgore Road just south of Highway 50, is set to go before the Rancho Cordova City Council Tuesday night.
