Probate vs. Trust Administration: Do You Know the Difference?
When a loved one passes away, how their assets get distributed depends on one key thing: did they have a trust?
🔹 Probate: Decedent had no estate plan or ONLY a will. A court-supervised, public record proceeding; can take 9-18+ months; fees are statutory.
🔹 Trust Administration: Decedent created a trust. Private (usually no court involvement); often wraps up in months; typically lower costs than probate.
