IRS is not issuing any more paper checks. Everyone must have a bank account number.

You may have seen that the IRS is moving away from paper checks. If you usually receive a tax refund by paper check, you might also be experiencing some confusion about how you will receive your refund this filing season.

If you claim a refund on your 2025 tax return, new rules may affect how the IRS issues the refund if you don’t provide direct deposit information or if your direct deposit is rejected. Direct Deposit refund may be received as early as 10 business days after e-file accepted. (The IRS says paper checks will no longer be issued for tax refunds.)

Please remember to let your Tax Preparer know if you received assistance from the Health Insurance Marketplace. You will need to provide a Form 1095-A (you can see the sample in the picture). Without this form your taxes cannot be processed. This form is usually mailed to you in January. If for some reason you do not have it, you may call this number to request a copy: 1-(800) 318-2596.
