FMCSA has zero tolerance for fraud in our safety systems – that includes the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse.

We’re rolling out enhanced identity verification, starting with new registrations for employers, Medical Review Officers, Consortium/Third-party administrators (C/TPAs) and Substance Abuse Professionals through IDEMIA – the same platform used by TSA.

With more than 6 million users in the Clearinghouse, the stakes are too high to leave any gaps.

Next, these stronger standards will be applied to all existing Clearinghouse accounts for the same user groups

If you’re in the system, you’ll be verified. Period.

A new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) rule aimed at cracking down on freight brokers and freight forwarders who fail to pay motor carriers officially went into effect today.

Effective Friday, January 16, 2026, FMCSA’s “Broker and Freight Forwarder Financial Responsibility” Final Rule gives the agency stronger enforcement authority, including the ability to immediately suspend a broker’s operating authority for violations tied to nonpayment.

FMCSA said the rule is designed to protect motor carriers from financial harm caused by brokers who withhold payment for services already rendered. Under the rule, carriers who are not paid can submit claims directly to a broker’s financial responsibility provider to recover owed funds.

In announcing the rule, FMCSA acknowledged that most freight brokers operate ethically and honor their contracts with carriers and shippers. However, the agency said a small number of brokers engage in unscrupulous practices that create serious financial hardship for unsuspecting truckers, particularly small carriers and owner-operators.

FMCSA emphasized that the rule is intended to improve accountability in the brokerage sector while ensuring carriers are paid promptly for completed freight moves.

🚨FMCSA Removes 4 ELDs from Registered List 🚨

Today, FMCSA removed three Electronic Logging Devices (ELD) from its list of approved devices for use in commercial motor vehicles.

“Electronic logging devices play an important role in preventing unsafe driving practices,” said FMCSA Administrator Derek D. Barrs. “When devices don’t meet federal requirements, they put safety at risk, and that’s why we take action to remove them and keep our roads safer for everyone.”

🔹Drivers using the revoked ELDs must switch to paper logs immediately.
🔹Motor carriers have 60 days to replace the device.
