FIFTH YEAR IN A ROW!!! What a blessing it is to be recognized by my peers and the 405 Magazine as one of the Top Adoption Attorneys!

It is a true blessing that I am able to represent adoptive families and birth mothers. I am so thankful that God gave me a calling that allows me to really get to know people on a deeper level and help them through such an important time of their life!

The Adoption Tax Credit amount is changing for 2024 from $15,950 to $16,810. That is great news for those finalizing an adoption in 2024! Have you heard of the Adoption Tax Credit? My clients have had great success in utilizing this credit. Here is the IRS guide to the 2023 tax credit (2024 the amount will raise):

FOURTH YEAR IN A ROW!! It is an incredible honor to be named one of the Top Adoption Attorneys from 405 Magazine for a fourth year in a row. In addition to my typical practice of representing adoptive families, this year I also focused on representing birth mothers and let me tell you it was memorable.

Representing birth mothers for me looks different than just doing the legal work, sometimes its holding onto a birth mother's hand during her epidural when she has no one else, sometimes its sitting in her hospital room for hours just talking about life, sometimes its holding her while she sobs, sometimes its checking in on her well after the adoption, and sometimes its staying up late at night and thinking about her and praying that she is doing okay. The stories these mothers told me this year brought a completely new perspective to my practice and have given me such a better insight to practice adoption law. To my birth mothers, I am thankful for our time together and thankful for the treasured blessing you carried.

Representing adoptive families has been something I have done for almost ten years now. I have the sweetest memories over those ten years but looking back at this past 12 months there are just some of the most precious babies and children that I have ever worked with. I had a couple trials, argued several big issues, but some of my favorite memories this past year were looking at my clients' faces at adoption finalization days - there are no words that can even come close to describing the feelings and emotions.

Well, I guess after the FOURTH year, you have to get a little emotional in the thank you. Truly a big thank you to my collogues that year after year vote my adoption practice as worthy of being recognized.

And, to all of my collogues on this list CONGRATULATIONS! There are so many phenomenal names on this list that deserve recognition. Friends, check out this list and use it when you are selecting an attorney.

THIRD YEAR IN A ROW! I am so honored to be named one of the Top Adoption Attorneys from 405 Magazine! Serving the children and families of Oklahoma in both my private practice and pro bono practice have provided me life changing experiences. There are good days and there are very sad days, but I am thankful for the opportunity to serve and make a difference in a child's life.

There are so many great names on this list (not just adoption attorneys), I want to say a special CONGRATULATIONS to my colleagues and friends! Job well done!

Each year we host a National Adoption Month Celebration where we invite our current/past clients, colleagues, friends, and family to celebrate. Typically we have had this event at an indoor play place. With COVID precautions still in play, who would be comfortable attending? What precautions would you like to see in place? Would you be more likely to come to an outdoor event vs an indoor invent?

I want to also congratulate my colleagues, mentors, and friends who were honored in various practice categories by the magazine. May I never forget the reasons I practice, the precious kiddos that I have met over years, and the honor it is to be entrusted with such an important part of my clients’ lives.

I am so honored to receive the Attorney Volunteer of the year award from Oklahoma Lawyers for children. OLFC represents children in state custody in Oklahoma County. OLFC has volunteer opportunities for attorneys and non-attorneys. I promise you, if you decide to help this organization and volunteer your life will be deeply changed. I am so thankful for the opportunity to serve.
