North Carolina Homeowners Could Get New Protections From HOA Rules
After six decades helping families find and keep their homes on the central coast, I’ve seen firsthand how HOA rules can affect day-to-day living. North Carolina legislators are now considering bills that would limit HOA authority over solar panels, edible gardens, backyard cottages, in-home child care, and even how owner complaints are handled. These changes aim to give homeowners more freedom and require HOAs to report complaints to the state. Having guided generations through the ins and outs of property ownership, I understand how important it is to balance community standards with individual rights. It’s encouraging to see efforts that could make homeownership a bit more flexible for everyone.
