Something we see too frequently while helping our clients following an accident is the lack of Uninsured Motorist Coverage aka UM Coverage. If you get in an accident with someone who does not have insurance, this added coverage would protect you. It’s relatively cheap to add to your policy but is worth it. It would pay for the damage to your vehicle along with any bodily injury compensation should you have injuries. GAP Insurance - (when financing a new vehicle paired with a low down payment) GAP insurance would pay off your car loan should your car get totaled in an accident. The value of a new vehicle loses equity quickly and is many times not worth what is owed when financing. So insurance companies will only pay what the car is worth NOT what is left on the loan, so without it (GAP Insurance) you could be left without a car and still owing on the loan. This coverage is offered when purchasing the vehicle.
