Town of East Hartford, CT – Government Official page for the Town of East Hartford. Mayor Connor S. Martin. The east side of the Connecticut River was at that time part of Hartford.

The part of the land Known as East Hartford was once inhabited by the Podunk Indians, in 1635 the town saw its first permanent colonists when Thomas Hooker and his followers came from Cambridge, Massachusetts to found Hartford. Initially settled about 1640, early settlers included William Goodwin, Thomas Burnham and William Pitkin. The first petition by residents to establish a separate Town aprt

Memorial Day is an important moment to honor those who gave their lives for our country. We thank everyone who attended the East Hartford Memorial Day Ceremony, despite the weather and change of venue. We especially thank the Veteran's Commission, Memorial Day Parade Committee, our Memorial Day volunteers, sponsors, and staff who helped ensure this day honored U.S. military personnel from East Hartford and across the country. Thank you to our guests, the family of Frank W. Forrest, Sr., our posthumously awarded Memorial Day Parade Grand Marshal.

Memorial Day commands a reverence that rises above politics and partisanship, as we pause to honor the men and women who gave everything in service to our country.

East Hartford needs to replace obsolete Fire Station 2. The building is approaching 100 years old, is not in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, lacks gender-inclusive facilities, does not have a monitored fire alarm or sprinkler system, or have facilities compliant with National Fire Protection Association Standard 1500, Fire Department Occupational Health and Safety which addresses facility safety and cancer mitigation strategies. The department proposes to construct a modern, energy-efficient facility that has gender-neutral facilities as well as individual bunkrooms for privacy. The station will also have state-of-the-art cancer mitigation systems to prevent firefighter exposure from diesel exhaust and cross-contamination of firefighting equipment after a fire.
