Our Solid Waste Division is hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, June 6, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Northern Durham Convenience Site (11894 N. Roxboro Road).

This event is open only to residents of unincorporated Durham County who have a current 2025–2026 solid waste decal.

Accepted items include:
• Aerosol cans
• Fire extinguishers
• Batteries
• Garden materials and fertilizers
• Mercury
• Pesticides
• Pool chlorine and acid
• Fuels
• Thermometers
• Paints
• Fluorescent bulbs

Not accepted:
• Commercially generated waste
• Explosives
• Ammunition
• Medical waste
• Radioactive materials
• Unknown or unlabeled materials
