As election day approaches, it is more critical than ever for us to ask ourselves the true meaning of our vote. Beyond Borders is working with Duke Diya and North Carolina Asian Americans Together (NCAAT) to hold a panel on the significance of voting alongside a voter registration drive! We will be welcoming Dr. Abdullah Antepli, Director of Duke POLIS, and Abi Ranganathan, Head of Voter Engagement at NCAAT. Come out to our interactive, moderated discussion on the importance of the vote of different communities!!! We will have chili momos from Everest Nepali Kitchen and an ice cream cart from Ben and Jerry’s :)
• Professor Antepli is a globally acknowledged scholar and leader of cross-religious and cross-cultural dialogue in American higher education and in non-profit world. He has built multiple organizations and initiatives to facilitate religious and spiritual life across America’s college campuses, sowing seeds of understanding between religions while upholding their cultural integrity and dignity. In July 2019, Antepli joined the Sanford School of Public Policy as associate professor of the practice, with a secondary appointment at the Divinity School as associate professor of the practice of interfaith relations.
• Abi (she/her) grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from Mercer University with a BA in international affairs and global health. She comes from a background in campaigns as well as community engagement in Georgia. Abi’s interested in the AAPI community came from her experience of seeing friends struggle to find the resources they needed to vote or even their access to basic information. In her free time, she can be found exploring different parts of a new city.
