Every family has a story about where it all started.

For Jim Carey, part of that story begins with a grandmother named Vivian, a good sense of humor, and a family already finding its way toward the law.

What followed was a connection between the Carey and Sieben families that would grow into decades of friendship, partnership, and service across Minnesota.

If you own INMO AIR3 smart glasses, stop and check your pair.

About 1,643 have been recalled after reports that part of the glasses can overheat during extended use.

Ten overheating incidents have been reported, including burning sensations to the face and ear.

The CPSC says owners should stop using affected glasses and contact INMO for a free repair.

Don’t keep using a recalled product because nothing has happened yet.

Check the model and follow the recall instructions.

For 70 years, SiebenCarey has been part of the Minnesota communities we serve.

That connection runs deep. Our attorneys grew up here, built their careers here, and continue to give back to the communities they call home.

Today, the next generation of the Sieben and Carey families is carrying that commitment forward, each bringing their own experience and dedication to the work.

In Part 2 of our legacy series, Jim Carey reflects on what it means to be rooted in Minnesota and shares a personal moment of pride.

Traffic slowed suddenly on I-94 near the Lowry Tunnel.

Our client slowed with it. The semi-truck behind him couldn't stop in time.

He died in the crash, leaving behind his wife, two sons and two grandchildren.

In retirement, he had become his grandchildren's primary daycare provider.

He served more than 20 years on the Anoka County Fair Board and was active in 4-H, the Stockman's Association and other community groups. More than 600 people came to honor him.

SiebenCarey secured a $1 million settlement for his family.

No amount can replace him.

What it can do is hold those responsible accountable and give his family stability as they rebuild their lives without him.

If you've been harmed by someone else's negligence, call SiebenCarey.

Know Your Rights.

Sometimes, a lifelong career begins with a look at a map.

That's how Jim Carey's uncle, John, liked to explain his decision to open a small law office in Fairfax, Minnesota.

He went on to build lasting relationships and provide free legal services to people across Minnesota and beyond.

In this chapter of our legacy series, Jim reflects on his father, Tom, who became a respected Hennepin County judge, and his uncle John, whose dedication to helping others left a lasting impression on the Carey family.

Your car can brake for you. Steer for you. Even help keep you in your lane.

That can make it easy to forget where the technology ends and the driver’s responsibility begins.

NHTSA says drivers remain responsible for driving and monitoring the road when using the Level 0, 1 and 2 driver-assistance systems found in vehicles today.

Before relying on a feature, learn exactly what it is designed to do.

The name on the button matters less than knowing the limits of the technology behind it. Stay engaged behind the wheel.

The company that arranged the shipment isn't painted on the side of the truck.

Freight brokers match shippers with trucking companies. For years, they could get injury claims against them dismissed, even when they hired a carrier with a poor safety record that was visible in federal databases.

That changed on May 14, 2026, in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II. Now, when a broker carelessly hires an unsafe carrier, injured victims can include the broker in their claim.

This matters because many small trucking companies carry only the minimum insurance federal law requires.

After a serious crash, that coverage can fall far short of what a family needs.

Read what the ruling means for Minnesota drivers on our blog: https://www.knowyourrights.com/blog/supreme-court-expands-rights-for-truck-accident-victims/

Broker records can disappear quickly. If you've been hurt in a truck crash, contact SiebenCarey for a free case evaluation. Know Your Rights

A new workers’ compensation law brings several changes for injuries occurring on or after October 1, 2026, including:

✅Higher compensation amounts for some permanent partial disabilities.

✅Psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners can now diagnose PTSD for workers’ comp claims.

✅The “pay-and-investigate” period increases from 60 to 90 days.

✅The date of your injury can determine which rules apply to your claim.

If you’re injured at work, don’t rely on what happened in someone else’s case or under the old rules.

Know what applies to you and protect your rights from the start.

What Do People Get Wrong About Personal Injury Lawyers? 💼

We asked our SiebenCarey team about the biggest misconceptions people have about personal injury lawyers. Their answers might surprise you!

🚛💔One moment of rest. A lifetime changed.

Our client was asleep in the back of a semi-truck, headed cross-country. But in the middle of the night, the driver fell asleep too, and the truck crashed off the road.

The injuries were severe - back, spine, and pelvic.

Recovery has been long, and life will never look the same.

With care and determination, Attorney Cory Whalen secured a $2,625,000 settlement to help our client find stability, support, and a path forward.

Because no one should suffer alone after someone else’s mistake.

Our client was a bricklayer who was seriously injured in a car crash caused by an underinsured driver.

The collision shattered his knee, femur, and hip, injuries that disrupted his ability to work and live life as he knew it. When he turned to his own insurance company for underinsured motorist benefits, the claim was disputed.

With Attorney Jeff Sieben and the SiebenCarey team by his side, the case went to trial in Dakota County District Court.

The jury heard the full scope of the injuries, the impact on our client’s livelihood, and the responsibility that remained when coverage fell short.

The result was a $793,000 verdict against American Family Insurance Company, a significantly larger award than what was originally requested.

What a day at Saturday's 4th Annual Minnesota Building and Construction Trades Council Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Ribfest!

SiebenCarey teamed up once again with IBEW Local 292 to compete, and even with the rough weather, the turnout was fantastic. We didn't place as high as last year, but everyone had a great time. Most importantly, we raised a lot of money for military families in need, and that's what this event is all about.

SiebenCarey was proud to return as a Gold Sponsor. Our labor liaison Ian Carey, who serves on the board and steering committee for the Minnesota Building and Construction Trades Council, worked the booth alongside law clerk John Gauger, and the Carey family also came out to support. Senator Amy Klobuchar joined us to kick off this year's rib tasting.

Thank you to everyone who came out. See you next year!

For many older adults, driving means independence. It means getting to appointments, seeing friends, and staying connected to daily life.

But aging brings changes that can quietly affect how safely we drive and knowing your rights and options matters.

Attorney Nick Carey covers what Minnesota senior drivers and their families need to know.

You weren't driving, so where does that leave you? Passengers injured in a crash may assume they have no claim but that's rarely the case.

At 60 mph, your car travels the length of a football field before it comes to a full stop and that's on dry pavement, fully alert, with good brakes.

Add rain, snow, or a tired driver, and the gap you think is safe often isn't.

Most drivers underestimate how much road they really need. Here's how much space to leave.

Home is supposed to be the safest place there is. But falls, fires, and fumes send Minnesotans to the ER every year and many of the fixes that prevent them are simple, affordable, and often overlooked.

A few are even required by Minnesota law.

A crash close to home is stressful enough. One that happens in another state raises a whole new set of questions about which insurance applies and who pays.

Attorney Nick Carey explains why Minnesota drivers may be more protected than they realize even far from home.

The system is supposed to catch you when you can't work. Sometimes it looks the other way.

Insurers aren't always sympathetic to what a serious injury means later in someone's career. That gap between what a person needs and what a company will offer is where having someone in your corner changes everything.

If you've been hurt because of someone else's actions, trust in Minnesota experience and proven results. Call SiebenCarey.

You got hurt on the job. Does workers' comp cover it? Most people assume yes across the board but there are limits worth knowing before you file.
