🚨 **ATTENTION! ICE AND “SANCTUARY CITIES”** 🚨
📢 Share this information with family and friends who live in these communities.
🏛️ **What did DHS announce?**
The Department of Homeland Security reported that ICE may intensify operations in jurisdictions that limit cooperation with federal immigration authorities.
📍 **Cities mentioned:**
🗽 New York City
🌆 Chicago
🌴 Los Angeles
🌉 San Francisco
🌲 Seattle
🏔️ Denver
🎓 Boston
⚜️ New Orleans
🏙️ Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, and Hoboken
Philadelphia, Portland, Albuquerque, Rochester, Berkeley, and East Lansing are also mentioned.
🗺️ In addition, states such as California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Minnesota, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington are listed, along with Washington, D.C.
⚠️ **Important!**
Living in a sanctuary city does not automatically prevent ICE from making arrests or carrying out deportations. These policies limit local cooperation with the federal government, but they do not eliminate ICE’s authority.
🎯 DHS states that it will continue prioritizing people with criminal records, although other individuals without lawful immigration status may also be detained during operations.
📌 Being included on a city or state list does not mean special operations will occur everywhere at the same time. The intensity and location of enforcement actions may vary.
⚖️ **Message from Attorney Walter W. Messenger:**
Families should know their rights, learn which cities have **287(g)** agreements with ICE, and have a plan in case they encounter immigration agents. A sanctuary city does not provide automatic protection.
