Celebrate the Winter Solstice at Dead Horse Point State Park with our first ever BURNING HORSE three-day festival, December 19th through 21st, 2026! 🐴🔥

Burning Horse will begin with a Wicker Horse Lighting Ceremony on the night of Saturday, December 19th, on the hill above the Visitor Center.

During this ceremony, Rangers will guide visitors by torch light up the hill, where hand-made horse effigy crafts will be placed inside the ring along with the park's own large deadwood horse structure. This ceremony offers a communal opportunity to burn away the dross of the year and prepare for the sun's rebirth.

Over the following days and nights, we'll have crafts, Ranger activities, and telescope programs highlighting the sun, the solar system, and the stars beyond! 💫
