Thinking about buying your next home? A little preparation now can make the process much easier later. 🏡

Here are four areas worth getting in order before you start your search:

🧹 Clear out what you no longer need: Decluttering now can make moving easier and give you a better idea of what you actually need in your next home.
💳 Get your debt in check: Paying down existing debt can improve your overall financial position and may affect how much you’re comfortable borrowing.
💰 Know your numbers: Have a realistic budget in mind, including your down payment, closing costs, monthly payment, and other costs of homeownership.
🛍️ Watch discretionary spending: Limiting unnecessary purchases can help you build savings and keep your finances on track while preparing to buy.

If you’ve PCS’d a few times, you know there are normal moving boxes…

Kitchen. Bedroom. Linens.

And then there are the boxes that happen when you’re completely OVER IT:

😂 “IMPORTANT STUFF”
🤷‍♀️ “NO IDEA — JUST PACK IT”
🚨 “DO NOT LOSE THIS BOX!”
📦 “MISC.” — which tells you absolutely NOTHING.

And my favorite: “OPEN FIRST”…which somehow ends up being the last box you find. 😂

-“Temporary” could mean six months…or three years. 😂
-You’ve made amazing friends all over the country—and had to say goodbye to far too many of them.
-And one set of orders can change your entire plan overnight.

As a Veteran AND Military Spouse, I’ve lived this life. One thing military families learn pretty quickly is that HOME isn’t always a particular house, city, or duty station.

Sometimes home is simply the people you take with you. 🇺🇸❤️
And maybe that's why helping military families with their next move means a little more to me. I understand that behind every PCS is a family trying to figure out where they're going to live, where the kids will go to school, how quickly they can get settled—and how to make an unfamiliar place feel like home.
