This wonderful event the Latina Outreach and Leadership - LOL committee puts together has always held a special place in my heart because of what it represents. It has been an honor to sponsor and be part of it for many years, and I look forward to it every year.
This year was especially meaningful. Last year, what began as sciatica became two separate health concerns. I was unable to walk for over a month and was off work for four months. During an MRI for a herniated disc, doctors discovered a cancerous mass on my kidney. Last September I underwent surgery to remove the mass, along with part of my left kidney. Thankfully, I am now cancer-free!
This life experience changed me. It made me realize how quickly life can change. It also made me realize never to take a day, a friendship, and family time for granted.
To make this experience even more special, Dr. Lopez Corona from Hays Medical Center is the doctor who performed my surgery and was the main speaker at the event. Seeing him there was one of those moments that made me realize just how beautifully life can come full circle.
Being back, being healthy, and being part of this event means so much to me Thank you, Doctor Ernesto Lopez-Corona, and thank you to everyone who prayed for me and continues to pray for me. I am forever grateful!
Blessings on blessings.🙏
