Kansas' rural attorney shortage is a growing crisis. We've seen firsthand how this impacts families, courts, and communities across western Kansas.

Right now, 49 counties are considered legal deserts - meaning these counties have one or zero attorneys per 1,000 people. It’s not just a legal challenge. It’s a rural quality-of-life issue that mirrors shortages in healthcare, education, and other vital services.

We believe every Kansan deserves access to justice no matter their ZIP code. That’s why I’m proud to be part of the Kansas Bar Association’s Rural Justice Committee, working to find solutions to these problems.

The Kansas Supreme Court recently paid a visit to Dodge City, as part of its ongoing outreach to familiarize Kansans with the court, its work, and the overall role of the Kansas judiciary.

It was the Supreme Court's first visit to the City of Dodge City in the court's 162-year history. The court held a special session at the Dodge City High School, which was open to the public. They also made several stops around the city, one being a luncheon to connect with local attorneys.

Travelmag.com, a thriving travel publication, has declared Dodge City as the Most Charming Town in Kansas in their list of the Most Charming Towns and Small Cities in the Midwest. This recognition celebrates Dodge City's distinct mix of history, culture, and unique experiences that attract visitors from all over.

TravelMag surveyed More than 100 travel experts to identify the 20 most charming towns in the Midwest. The survey only considered towns and small cities with populations under 100,000 residents. The Midwest spans nearly a million square miles encompassing diverse landscapes, from expansive corn fields to pristine lakeside forests. TravelMag wants to raise awareness of the unique natural and urban charm, rich histories, and a variety of dining, entertainment, and lodging Midwest towns have to offer.
