• Misrepresentation and rescission
• No-fault & PIP coverage
• Common reasons claims are denied

If you take one thing away from this series, let it be this:
👉 Details matter — and mistakes can cost you coverage.

📘 Michigan Auto Insurance Series – Day 5 📘

To wrap up this series, here are a few simple steps Michigan drivers can take to protect themselves:

✔️ Review your policy regularly
✔️ Update household changes immediately
✔️ Be thorough and accurate on applications
✔️ Don’t assume non-drivers don’t matter
✔️ Ask questions before there’s a problem

Auto insurance issues often don’t show up until after an accident — when it’s too late to fix mistakes.

Being proactive now can make all the difference.

📘 Michigan Auto Insurance Series – Day 4📘

There’s a common misunderstanding in Michigan about choosing PIP Medicare coverage.

👉 Choosing the Medicare PIP option does NOT mean you’re opting out of PIP entirely.

What it means is this:
• You are opting out of the medical portion of PIP
• Medicare becomes primary for accident-related medical bills
• Other PIP benefits may still apply, such as wage loss and replacement services, depending on your policy

Why this matters:
Many people believe selecting Medicare PIP means they have “no PIP coverage at all,” which isn’t accurate. But it does mean your medical bills after an auto accident will be handled differently — and gaps can still exist.

👉 Takeaway:
✔️ Understand what you’re opting out of — and what you’re not
✔️ Don’t assume PIP Medicare eliminates all PIP benefits
✔️ Review your policy carefully and ask questions before choosing

Michigan’s no-fault system is complicated, and the details matter. 🫶🏾

📘 Michigan Auto Insurance Series – Day 2 📘

One of the biggest issues leading to denied auto insurance claims in Michigan is not listing all household members on an insurance application.

In Michigan, insurers often require you to disclose all resident relatives — even if they don’t drive or don’t use your car. Why? Because Michigan’s no-fault system allows Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits to extend to people living in your household.

If someone is left off, insurance companies may later claim misrepresentation and deny coverage after an accident.

👉 Takeaway:
✔️ List everyone living in your home
✔️ Update your policy when things change
✔️ Ask questions if you’re unsure who counts

This is one of the most common and costly mistakes Michigan drivers make.

🚗 Michigan Auto Insurance & Misrepresentation: What You Need to Know 🚗

Michigan auto insurance laws are strict when it comes to misrepresentation. If incorrect or incomplete information is provided on an insurance application — even if it seems minor — an insurance company may try to rescind the policy or deny coverage after a claim.

Examples of misrepresentation can include:
• Incorrect household drivers
• Wrong vehicle garaging address
• Failing to disclose prior accidents or tickets
• Misstating how a vehicle is used

Under Michigan law, insurers may argue that they would not have issued the policy, or would have charged a different premium, had the correct information been provided. Unfortunately, this often comes up after an accident, when coverage matters most.

The takeaway:
✔️ Be accurate and thorough when applying for insurance
✔️ Review your policy regularly
✔️ Don’t assume small details don’t matter

If you’re facing a denied claim or policy rescission based on alleged misrepresentation, it’s important to understand your rights. Michigan law in this area is complex, and each case is fact-specific.

Stay informed. Protect yourself.
