The 2026 summer associate class has arrived! 🎉

We are so excited to welcome Kathryn Jones, Gracie Harvey, Emma Dulaney, Caroline Brincks, and Carey Koenig to the firm this summer.

Kathryn is back for her second summer with us from Drake University Law School, joined by fellow Drake students Gracie and Emma. Caroline and Carey come to us from The University of Iowa College of Law.

This summer they will work side by side with our attorneys, dig into real matters, meet judges and staff with the Polk County Bar Association and The Iowa State Bar Association, and experience what it means to practice at a full-service Iowa firm. We are thrilled to have them!

Happy 180th birthday to Arabella Mansfield! 🎉

On May 23, 1846, a future trailblazer was born in Burlington, Iowa. Just 23 years later, she became the first woman admitted to practice law in the United States. 👩‍⚖️

Here is the part we love most: Arabella earned her law license in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, inside the Union Block Building. That same building is home to our Whitfield & Eddy Law Mt. Pleasant office today. A little piece of legal history, right down the hall.

Her legacy lives on through the Iowa Organization of Women Attorneys Arabella Mansfield Award, which honors Iowa women lawyers who champion other women in the profession. Our own Jaki Samuelson received that honor in 2023. 👏
