Are you seeking inspiration to challenge yourself by cycling the iconic Lookout Mountain in Golden, Colorado? Here are some photos of what you can expect to see on the 7-mile ride up to the 7,389-foot summit of the climb at Boettcher Mansion and Lookout Mountain Nature Center. The average grade is about 5%, and you’ll gain approximately 1,800 feet from Ford Street in downtown Golden. If you don’t want to go all the way to the top, you can stop at Windy Saddle Park about halfway or just below the summit at Buffalo Bill’s Grave and Museum.

As you ascend, you’ll have breathtaking views of downtown Golden, Coors Brewery, Denver, Clear Creek, and Longs Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. You’ll be exposed for most of the climb until you reach the pine trees near Windy Saddle Park. You may encounter deer, blooming wildflowers, cacti, and various bird species. Keep in mind that vehicle traffic can be heavy on the weekends, as Lookout Mountain is more than a popular cycling destination. You’ll often see hikers, rock climbers, paragliders, longboarders/speedboarders, and many tourists out enjoying Lookout Mountain. Lookout Mountain is part of the historic and scenic byway known as the Lariat Loop. Be cautious, as the road shoulder can drop off in some places. Always ride with a group in single file, use front and rear lights, and be sure to ride on the right side of the road especially when descending, as vehicles and motorcycles are known to make dangerous passes of slower cyclists.

Toward the top, you can stop for coffee and pastries at Et Voila French Bakery or there are water fountains and bathrooms available during the open season at Lookout Mountain Nature Center and Preserve. After refueling, you can enjoy the ride back down Lookout Mountain or continue exploring further into the foothills.

Cyclists are avid collectors of bicycles. They have likely amassed their collections in pursuit of the ideal bicycle fit, enhanced performance, upgrades, or specialized riding experiences such as road cycling, mountain biking, gravel cycling, triathlons, tandem cycling, and commuter cycling.

There is a saying among cyclists that the correct number of bicycles a person should own is “N+1,” which means the amount you currently own plus one more.

Whether serious or jesting, the N+1 response may justify owning multiple bicycles, but it should not be applied when looking for and hiring your lawyer for brain injury and bicycle crash cases. Not selecting the appropriate lawyer or law firm from the outset can have severe repercussions on your case, including unnecessary delays and stress, poor communication that leads to client misunderstandings of the process, increased costs, missed injuries and damages, and poor legal strategy, which can result in suboptimal outcomes and poor client satisfaction.

Here’s what you can do to help you select the right attorney for your brain injury & bicycle crash case from the start and avoid these problems.

Check out these incredible photos after a recent spring snowstorm near Estes Park, Colorado and Rocky Mountain National Park! The blue sky, evergreen trees, and pristine white snow create a breathtaking backdrop. Longs Peak, the tallest and most famous “fourteener” standing at 14,259 feet, is a must-see. Other well-known peaks like Estes Cone and Twin Sisters are also beautiful sites. The Front Range is the beginning of the Rocky Mountains, where the plains end and cities like Denver, Golden, and Boulder, sit in the mountains’ shadows. When the snow crews have cleared the roads in RMNP, cyclists can embark on a bucket list worthy ride from the eastern side of RMNP at Estes Park, Colorado, to the western side and Grand Lake, Colorado, along the iconic Old Fall River Road and Trail Ridge Road. The journey covers approximately 47 miles, depending on your starting point, and you’ll gain around 5,235 feet in elevation as you reach over 12,000 feet in altitude at some of the highest points along the route in RMNP.

If you are an avid cyclist who suffered serious injuries in a crash, you should be as obsessed with finding the right lawyer for your bike crash or brain injury case as you are about all bike things. I’m Attorney Dan D’Angelo. When people ask me about the type of law I practice, I tell them I focus on helping brain injury victims and injured cyclists. As an avid cyclist I’ve experienced too many close calls with vehicles to count and have been involved in a crash with a vehicle, so I know what it’s like riding out on the road and sharing the road with large vehicles that can cause serious damage. I also geek out over bicycle technology and design, and use my knowledge of bike tech to help my clients from products liability cases to reconstructing a bike crash. It also helps me understand and relate with my cycling clients to have that common interest and passion. As for the brain injury side of my practice, unfortunately given how vulnerable cyclists are to serious injury, head and brain injuries are often involved in bicycle crash cases. I’ve also helped pedestrians and motorists who have suffered brain injuries. Brain injuries are complex medical cases that require many different experts and knowledge of how the brain suffers injury in order to prove my clients’ injury and changes or impairments after suffering a traumatic brain injury. Insurance companies strongly fight brain injury cases because they can be difficult to prove if you don’t know the medicine and science about brain injuries. I’ve been helping Colorado cyclists and brain injury victims since 2009 but started Bike Brain Law more recently to raise more awareness about brain injuries and to help brain injury victims find a lawyer who focuses in brain injury. I believe given how complex the area of law around brain injuries is and how debilitating the injury can be that only a lawyer experienced in brain injury medicine and litigation should handle brain injury cases. These things make me obsessed with bike and brain law and I have a strong passion for fighting for brain injury victims and injured cyclists.
