Motorcyclists throughout Colorado, and in neighborhoods such as Timbercove, Club Crest, the Highlands and Allendale, face a range of hazards that can make riding on the state's roads and highways uniquely challenging. Some of the most significant risks that motorcyclists face in Colorado (from Far Horizons to Oak Park and all points in between) include:
Weather Conditions: Colorado, where the mountains hit the plains, has some of the nation's most unpredictable weather (sudden changes in temperature, high wind, and variable precipitation. In the Colorado Mountains, it can snow in July and rain in January. These unpredictable conditions can make riding a motorcycle hazardous.
Altitude Sickness: Colorado has some of the highest elevation roadways in the United States, and breathing at high altitude can be challenging for some motorcyclists. Altitude sickness can cause fatigue, dizziness, and other symptoms that impair a rider's ability to operate their motorcycle.
Wildlife Encounters: Colorado is home to a variety of wildlife, including elk, dear, and even bears, which can pose a significant hazard to motorcyclists. Collisions with animals often cause serious injury or death, especially at high speeds.
Mountain Roads: Colorado's scenic mountain roads are a popular destination for motorcycle riders, but they can also be hazardous. These roads often feature steep grades, tight curves and narrow lanes, all of which can be difficult to navigate, especially for inexperienced riders.

Medicare fraud is a serious and growing problem in the United States, costing taxpayers millions of dollars each year. Whistleblowers play an important role in identifying and bringing to justice those who commit these crimes. Strict whistleblower protections are in place to incentivize people to come forward with information and grant them legal protection if they do so. I have opened a "Qui Tam" Medicare fraud Whistleblower intake unit to my law office and we have filed our first case under seal.

Medicare billing fraud can take many forms, but generally involves healthcare providers receiving payments for services that were never provided or that patients did not need. In addition, fraudulent billing practices include upcoding (billing for more expensive services than those given) and unbundling (breaking out individual services when bundled scenarios would be less costly).

Increasingly, whistleblower actions are being used to identify egregious incidents of Medicare fraud. Healthcare insiders such as doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, medical technicians and office staff have access to information about fraudulent activities which can be reported anonymously under certain conditions. These individuals may suffer personal repercussions from coming forward with this information; however federal law provides safeguards against retaliation and grants financial incentives for whistleblowers whose allegations lead to successful prosecution of Medicare fraudsters.

The Department of Justice encourages everyone with insider knowledge about potential instances of healthcare fraud to come forward by filing a qui tam lawsuit on behalf of the government. Such claims are investigated thoroughly by experienced legal teams upon initial registration with the Office of Inspector General (OIG).
