Driven this road a few times …

The Scary Highway Million Dollar Highway in Colorado is known as one of the most dangerous yet beautiful roads in the United States. This famous stretch of U.S. Route 550 runs through the rugged San Juan Mountains between the towns of Ouray and Silverton. The road is narrow and winds along steep cliffs with sharp curves and high mountain passes. In many places there are no guardrails, which can make the drive feel frightening, especially for people who are not used to mountain roads.

I've driven over this road many times in the summer only.

Pagosa Springs is becoming quite an enigma for me! I've never stayed there or visited the hot springs, but I'm planning to do it in April, weather permitting. A couple things about Pagosa: 1. It's right near the southern border with New Mexico and sort of right in the middle of the state of Colorado. It takes a long time to get there no matter which side of the state your starting from. It takes 5 hours to get there from Denver, driving pretty much right down the continental divide. It takes nearly that long from Grand Junction as well.
2. Weather is unpredictable. I planned to spend a weekend there last fall, but a rainstorm came through and flooded the town. I re-scheduled for April. So I have hotel reservations for April now, and if I don't go I'm out the money. We've had such a weird winter here - that is to say we haven't really had one - that some people are suggesting that we'll have winter weather in the spring. That sometimes happens. I don't care if there is snow there, but driving down The ridge of The Rockies in the middle of a raging snowstorm is not what I hope to do. Wolf Creek Ski Area, near Pagosa Springs, is known for some of the highest average snow totals in Colorado annually. That's fine, as long as I can get there!

Just for fun, I thought you'd like to see some of the most upscale residences in Denver, along with some "inside information" about the area. so here goes! Here's the first one: I think this is probably the highest priced condo in Denver right now. It's new construction in Cherry Creek North. Cherry Creek North is an upscale and very highly sought after neighborhood in Denver. It's going through some transitions right now, and the adjacent Cherry Creek Mall is going to be modernized and updated beginning this year. The Cherry Creek Mall was THE place to shop in Denver, and I think the owners want to make sure they hold that top ranking as some other malls are now competing favorably. I still like The Cherry Creek Mall and it's closest to home for me, but some upgrades are definitely in the works! Cherry Creek North was quite the hangout in the 1990's and 2000's, with plenty of retail, gourmet dining, and cocktail bars. Cherry Creek North still has over 600 businesses within a 16 block area, and over 20 of them are home furnishing stores, but there are also many other things to do in the area. Yes, it's city living, but with a very upscale vibe. The peacefulness of this patio belies the hubbub of the city below. And the views are to die for!
