It's also a day to recognize that indigenous history is not only just a story of the past: Indigenous communities continue to shape our country through their environmental stewardship, culture, and understanding of the world.

We're thrilled to introduce you to a new member of the ZLG team: Kofi Robinson! As a paralegal, Kofi Robinson brings to Zalessky Law a unique combination of legal training, psychological insight, and a passion for advocacy to her work. Kofi holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Juris Doctor degree from Southern University Law Center, having been accepted into law school at the age of 19.
While in law school, Kofi founded the National Police Accountability Project, a civil rights organization focused on promoting accountability and advocacy within the criminal justice system. This experience helped shape Kofi’s commitment to serving others and deepened their interest in the ways the law can provide meaningful support and solutions for individuals and families. Kofi approaches her work with compassion, professionalism, and careful attention to detail. Her background in psychology provides an additional perspective when working with clients navigating difficult or emotionally complex legal matters, such as divorce and estate planning. Outside of work, Kofi enjoys caring for her pets, baking, drawing portraits, and connecting with nature. Kofi values maintaining a balanced life and making time for the people, animals, and activities that bring her joy. We're so happy Kofi is now working with us!

Creatives and Artists should be aware that the state of Colorado is committed to safeguarding their rights and intellectual property via legal protections. This year, Gov. Jared Polis signed Senate Bill 26-133, making Colorado the first state to introduce Artist Corporations (A-Corps), a new type of limited liability company that will give artists more creative control and legal protections in their businesses, demonstrating the value of artists and creative industries in the state.

“It is important for artists to take themselves seriously as professionals and business owners, and this kind of legislation helps the rest of the world get up to speed and value our artists in the same way,” Meredith Badler, deputy director of Colorado Business Committee for the Arts, said in an A-Corps information session attended by around 200 artists, filmmakers, thespians, musicians, arts advocates and attorneys on Sept. 2.

The idea for A-Corps was introduced during an April 2025 TED Talk by Yancey Strickler, a musician, writer and co-founder of Kickstarter, after hearing feedback from artists about challenges in accessing capital, collaborating and managing day-to-day duties in their businesses. It's time to register to vote! National Voter Registration Day is a nonpartisan civic holiday dedicated to celebrating our democracy. Since its kickoff in 2012, the holiday and its team of thousands of Partners have worked to get over 6.5 million Americans registered to vote in time for their next trip to the ballot box. If you are not registered, this is a great time to get registered! The site to register in Colorado is GoVoteColorado.gov and that is a great source of information for details on all deadlines and requirements!
