Sometimes you don’t lose yourself all at once. It happens slowly.

You accommodate.
You compromise.
You keep the peace.
You take care of everyone else.

You become really good at being who the marriage needs you to be.

And somewhere along the way, you stop asking “What do I need?”

Divorce coaching isn’t about telling you to stay or telling you to leave. It’s about helping you hear yourself again.

To get clear.
To trust your own decisions.
To remember that you have choices.

And little by little, to take your power back.

Maybe the next chapter isn’t about becoming someone new.

Maybe it’s about coming back to yourself.

There’s a lunar eclipse coming this week, and I came across a question connected to it that really spoke to me…

What has already ended that you’re still carrying?

You don’t have to believe in astrology for that one to hit.

Because we do this, don’t we?

We carry things long after they’re over.

And divorce has a way of making that especially complicated.

We carry old roles, old expectations, and old resentments we’ve replayed a hundred times.

…The need to fix things that may no longer be ours to fix.

…Sometimes even a version of ourselves that simply doesn’t fit anymore.

This is actually one of the things I love most about divorce coaching.

There’s this space between what was and what comes next… and it can be uncomfortable as hell!

My job isn’t to rush someone through it or convince them that everything is suddenly wonderful because they’re starting a “new chapter.”

The past mattered. The marriage mattered. The life you built mattered.

But eventually, there comes a point when you get to decide what belongs in the life you’re building now.

What do you want to carry forward?

And maybe even more importantly…

What are you finally ready to put down?

Sometimes moving forward isn’t about doing more.

…Sometimes it begins with release.

Gray divorce isn’t just about dividing what you built… It’s about figuring out whether what you’ve built can now support two futures.

Two homes.
Two retirement plans.
Two financial lives.

After 20, 30, or 40 years together, the smartest first question may not be “What am I entitled to?”

It may be “What do I need to be okay?”

That’s a very different conversation, and often a much better place to begin.

Divorce is a legal process AND a life transition. But, sometimes, separating the two doesn’t make much sense.

One of the things that makes my work at Berryhill Family Law different is that I bring legal support and divorce coaching together.

As a Colorado Licensed Legal Paraprofessional and Certified Divorce Coach®, I can help clients understand the legal process, prepare for mediation, work through decisions and negotiations, while also helping them navigate the very human side of ending a marriage.

This can be especially important in a Gray Divorce.

After decades together, the questions aren’t simply:

Who gets what?
What does the law say?

They can also be:

What will my financial future look like?
Who am I outside of this marriage?
Where do I want to live?
What relationships do I want to preserve?
What do I want the next chapter of my life to look like?

Those aren’t separate conversations. They’re part of the same transition.

My goal isn’t to create more conflict or more legal process than a family needs. It’s to help clients move through divorce with clarity, strategy, dignity and support, legally and personally.

Because sometimes the best divorce strategy isn’t about fighting harder.

It’s about moving forward better.

A “Gray Divorce” doesn’t always belong in a courtroom.

Some couples don’t need a fight. They need a process.

A place to have difficult conversations with structure, respect, and someone who can help keep things moving forward.

Over the past several months, I’ve been expanding my practice to better serve families who want a more peaceful path through divorce.

Something new is coming to Berryhill Family Law.

A mediation-focused approach designed especially for couples navigating gray divorce, helping them resolve issues with dignity, clarity, and less conflict, while staying focused on the future instead of the past.

As a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional, Certified Divorce Coach®, and Certified Mediator, I’m excited to bring together years of family law experience with a process centered on collaboration. Not combat!

Stay tuned… I can’t wait to share more.

Colorado is one of just a handful of states leading the way in reimagining access to justice in family law.

As a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional (LLP), I’m proud to be part of this exciting evolution, creating a more efficient, more affordable path for individuals and families navigating divorce, legal separation, parenting matters, and other family law issues.

One of the fastest-growing groups experiencing divorce is couples over the age of 55. A gray divorce isn’t simply the end of a marriage, it often involves decades of shared finances, retirement planning, adult children, real estate, and the challenge of rebuilding a new life.

That’s why I intentionally built Berryhill Family Law to meet people where they are.

Whether you need legal guidance, a neutral mediator to help resolve conflict and resolve your case amicably, or a divorce coach to help you move through one of life’s biggest transitions with clarity and confidence, I offer different levels of support designed around your unique needs… not a one-size-fits-all approach.

As an LLP, Certified Divorce Coach, and Certified Mediator, my goal is simple:

To help you make informed decisions, reduce unnecessary conflict, and move forward with dignity, confidence, and a clear plan for your next chapter.

Because access to justice shouldn’t depend on whether you can afford a traditional attorney.

If you’re considering a gray divorce, or simply wondering what your options are, I’d be honored to help you explore your next steps.

Schedule a Discovery Session and let’s talk about what support looks like for you.

Working as a solopreneur means wearing a lot of hats. I’ve come to believe that the most valuable thing I bring to my business isn’t what I know… it’s who I’ve become.

You’re the business owner, the marketer, the strategist, the visionary… and somehow you still have to show up fully present for the people who are counting on you.

I love being on my own; the autonomy gives me incredible freedom! But it also asks a lot of me physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

One thing many people don’t know about me is that long before I became a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional, I became a Certified Breakthrough Shadow Coach and Heal Your Heart Coach after reading Debbie Ford’s book: Darkside of the Light Chasers. This book literally changed my life!

But those certifications didn’t just teach me techniques … they transformed me.

They deepened my emotional intelligence, challenged me to do my own inner work, and taught me how to sit with people in some of the hardest moments of their lives without trying to “fix” them.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping people who felt stuck, hopeless, lost, or standing at the brink… rediscover their vision, reconnect with themselves, and find a new way forward.

That work changed me.

Today, whether someone comes to me for legal guidance or divorce coaching, I bring every one of those experiences with me.

Sometimes I think of my coaching role more like a crystal…

A crystal doesn’t create the light… It reveals what’s already there, refracting it into something clearer and more beautiful.

That’s how I hope I serve the people who place their trust in me.

Not by having all the answers… But by creating a space where clarity begins to emerge, perspectives shift, and people reconnect with the strength and wisdom that has been within them all along.

At the end of the day, people may forget what you said, but they’ll always remember how you made them feel.

If someone leaves a conversation with me feeling a little lighter, a little clearer, and a little more empowered than when they arrived… then I’ve done the work I was meant to do.

Whether you’re in the throws of divorce, rebuilding after loss, grieving a betrayal, facing a difficult life transition, or simply feeling lost and directionless, my role isn’t to tell you what to do… it’s to help you reconnect with your own wisdom, recognize your strengths, create a path forward and move toward a new vision with confidence and purpose.

That’s where my legal experience, coaching background, and life’s lessons come together. Not just to solve problems, but to help people transform through them.

Sometimes the greatest gift we can offer another person isn’t the answer… it’s simply reflecting enough light that they begin to see their own path more clearly. ✨

AN AFFORDABLE WAY TO GET LEGAL HELP

What Is a Licensed Legal Paraprofessional?

Colorado's LLP program was created by the Colorado Supreme Court to expand access to qualified legal representation in family law. LLPs are licensed, regulated, and authorized to practice.

They're not paralegals, and they're not attorneys.

They're a new category of legal professional designed to bridge the gap in divorce and custody cases in Colorado.

LLPs can advise clients, prepare and file court documents, negotiate on your behalf, and represent you in mediation and in Court.

And because LLPs focus exclusively on family law, their rates are typically about half of what attorneys charge.

Because every family’s journey is different, we take the time to understand your goals and help you make informed decisions with confidence. It’s legal guidance designed around you, not just your case.

“Lawyer Fired for Using ChatGPT.”

This is the title of the video I watched recently … posted by Mark Lyda where he is interviewing Zach Crabill, the lawyer fired for using ChatGPT. He’s the founder of Available Law and is now building an Ethical AI Law Firm.

Like many people, I clicked because of the headline and my curiosity about the impact of AI in the legal realm. But I stayed all the way to the end, gripped by the story.

What I found wasn’t just a story about AI… It was a story about resilience.

We’ve all faced moments when life or our career takes an unexpected turn. I know I have. After experiencing adversity in a previous business, I had a choice: to fold or pivot.

I chose to pivot.

What happened next surprised me. My business didn’t decline, it intensified and expanded. More importantly, I grew in ways I never expected… spiritually and emotionally.

I love stories of people who turn lemons into lemonade. They remind us that setbacks don’t have to define us. Sometimes they’re the very catalyst that leads us to something even better.

If you’re looking for a reminder that your hardest chapter doesn’t have to be your final chapter, this interview is worth your time. I found it incredibly inspiring and even energizing!

I’d love to hear what you think after you watch it.
