This year, Max and Echo Company Constructors have a lot to celebrate. Max is graduating from with a B.S. in Construction Management and is joining our Team full-time as a Superintendent!

You may know Max as our superstar Intern/Assistant Superintendent. Over the past three years, Max has met and excelled in every challenge put in front of him, all while earning his degree.

CONTRACT AWARDED! This is going to be another fun one on Pearl St. in Boulder! Scope of Work is to move historic home 50’ closer to Pearl St., don’t drop 100+ year old home, restore historic home, then build x3 modern townhomes and detached garage structure. All on a ~6,500 sq. ft. interior lot. 100% OR NOT AT ALL!

LEADVILLE TRAIL 100 MILES IN THE BOOKS! Congratulations to our Co-Owner, Brian Lucas, on completing “The Race Across the Sky” this weekend. This race starts at 10,160’ elevation, tops out at 12,532’ (with 15,000’+ elevation gain in between), and must be continuously ran in under 30 hours. In personal life and in business, Brian is incredible at setting massive goals, developing a plan to achieve the goals, then meticulously following the plan while persevering when obstacles arise. 100% OR NOT AT ALL!

CLOUD BASED QUALITY MANAGEMENT! Gone are the days of scribbled notes, spray painted floors, or even worse... outdated Microsoft Excel checklists on the superintendent's computer who is on vacation! All Echo Company PMs and Sups have our cloud-based project management tool on their iPads and iPhones with global pre-populated quality checklists by division of work and then custom checklists as you can see here. also allows us to push these quality checks to the trade partners who have the app on their phones. Just finishing up the salt shed facility at Colorado State University. Tremendous amount of lessons learned on concrete additives and epoxy rebar to inhibit rust. Thank you to all of our terrific trade partners and project team on this one!

2HR ASSEMBLIES ARE EASY... 1HR ASSEMBLIES NOT. The white sheathing is a special product for a 1HR fire rated wall assembly. The wall detail from the architect is very specific on outside materials, interior framing, and drywall specs ESPECIALLY at the floor diaphragm elevations. Architects and Engineers we challenge you to be very detailed at the floor diaphragm or your GC will be fire foaming and fire caulking for days!

EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: James Goodenough, Superintendent

In late 2020, James and his wife knew they wanted to move to Denver from Virginia and somehow acquired the Owner's phone numbers and emails. He was absolutely tenacious during the interview process from the other side of the country so we knew he would be a great fit for Echo Company just via Zoom, and boy were we right! James is a terrific team player who always brings and optimistic can do attitude to the jobsite. In his free time he has a passion for the outdoors and enjoys spending time golfing, playing hockey, or backpacking with his wife Amanda.

Hats off to Phill Hergenrader and Hooper Corporation for conducting the gnarliest pick we have ever seen with a wheeled crane. This is about a 140' pick and what you don't see is a telephone pole attached to the end of the crane. Hooper Corporation has been a phenomenal trade partner to work with in the Denver Metro area.

Safety training by our President of Construction going over documentation and why it's important. Did you know the federal government requires all superintendents to have their OSHA30 and everyone who walks on the site to have their OSHA10? Congrats to all our supers who worked hard getting their OSHA 30 the last couple months!

CITY PLANNERS, OWNERS, AND DESIGN CONSULTANTS: Be sure to spec the proper concrete chase drain for your requirements to save the Owner money. This trench drain is meant to be driven over by a 40,000 lb loader carrying salt and is installed for about $225/LF. We see many spec’d concrete chase drains on approved drainage plans or in city design standards meant for pedestrian use with the same specifications as the drain above which costs public and private Owners $1000s. Trying to resubmit to the governing jurisdiction is doable but it is time consuming and costs money. As a building community lets challenge ourselves to spec the right drain for the right job!
