UNT Peer Advocates

UNT Peer Advocates Our purpose as Peer Advocates is to provide knowledge-based, confidential advising and consulting for students concerning the UNT Code of Student Conduct.

Our purpose as Peer Advocates is to provide knowledge-based, confidential advising and consulting for students. We are available to answer questions regarding the discipline process, a student's specific discipline case, and any questions regarding the Code of Student Conduct and the Dean of Students Office. We are here to provide support and assistance throughout the entire discipline process. We

can also help students prepare for their conference with a Dean of Students Representative. Prior to the hearing we can:
1.Meet with the student to begin preparation for the conference including writing the formal statement and organizing the case and calling witnesses.
2.Answer any questions and explain the Student Code of Conduct.
3.Explain the procedures and options available to the student.
4.Refer students to the appropriate campus resources and offices when necessary. After the conference we can explain any sanctions, answer any questions, and assist students with beginning the review process if necessary. The Peer Advocates also present programs and workshops for student groups. Current programs include: ethical decision making, values based decision making, conflict management and resolution, ethics in leadership, and many more. Programs can also be customized per the organizational characteristics and needs. To schedule a program, contact the Peer Advocates today! You can also follow us on twitter:

The UNT Domestic Violence Awareness Month Committee is looking for volunteer's for several October events. (Listed Below)

Clothesline Project: October 7th from 7-10PM
The Clothesline Project (CLP) is a program started on Cape Cod, MA, in 1990 to address the issue of violence against women. It is a vehicle for women affected by violence to express their emotions by decorating a shirt. They then hang the shirt on a clothesline to be viewed by others as testimony to the problem of violence against women. With the support of many, it has since spread world-wide.

Rock & Stroll: October 14th from 8-11PM
Awareness Concert for Domestic Violence Awareness Month
(Volunteers that are 21+ are preferred)

Throwbacktober Fest: October 22nd, 12-4PM
Family Friendly Community Event to bring awareness on Domestic Violence resources in Denton County
Volunteers should arrive at 11 am.
Looking for organizations who can create and implement games for kids such as sack races or a bounce house. Contact Michelle Williams directly to identify a game and participate.

If you, your student org, or any community group(s) you belong to are looking to make an impact this upcoming Domestic Violence Awareness Month, please private message or email me ([email protected]) for more details on these events so we can get you signed up! ☺️

Hey, everyone! The Peer Advocates are looking for some help. We need undergraduate students to be a part of our hearings committee for when students choose to appeal serious sanctions they recieved. The time commitment is not too extensive; it is two trainings (one in the fall and one in the spring), and sitting in on hearings on an as needed basis. Being part of the committee is a great opportunity to meet faculty and staff, as well as be an advocate for your fellow students. Hearings are scheduled for four hour blocks, but it is not very common for them to take the whole time. Like I said it is on an as needed basis, so if you sign up you will be put on a list and our GA will email to see if you are available when hearings come up; if you are, great! If not, no harm no foul. If you have any questions or this is something you would be interested in please shoot us an email at [email protected]. Thank you and have a great day!
