I think most dads can envision being this brave for their kids. What a great story!

A dad ran through a bus engulfed in flames to rescue his kids after a propane heater exploded, settling the bus ablaze. Kyle Copeland and his family had been traveling on the bus full time as a way to spend more time together after military deployment separations, and medical treatments. One day, Kyle and his wife were outside their vehicular home when he was shocked to see flames quickly overtaking the bus.

Copeland quickly ran onto the bus, through the fire, and managed to get to his two kids who'd been trapped on board. A third child was able to escape out a window. All suffered severe burns, and the bus was completely destroyed by the devastating fire.

Kyle's wife, Whitney, told , "he knew he couldn’t let them down and had to get them out, or die trying.” When he got on the bus and grabbed his kids, he was staring at a wall of intense flames between him and his exit. “In that moment, he says, ‘It was as if I was looking right into hell,'”

A GoFundMe was started for the family and has raised more than $200,000. The family’s 12-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son needed dozens of surgeries and the family is on the long road to recovery. While they will never be the same, of course, Whitney told a local TV station she was so thankful for her husband’s actions and that her other son climbed out the window.

“If it would have gone any other way, if it would have been delayed at all, we would have had fatalities that night, and I am just so grateful that everyone was on the ball,” Whitney said.
