Detaining and arrest are distinct legal concepts, and here's what you need to know:
✋ Detaining: It refers to a temporary restraint by law enforcement where you may be stopped, questioned, or held briefly for investigative purposes. During detention, you are not free to leave, but it does not necessarily mean you're under arrest. Resisting or attempting to flee detention can lead to further legal consequences.
🔒 Arrest: Unlike detention, an arrest involves taking a person into custody and restricting their freedom. It typically occurs when law enforcement has probable cause to believe you have committed a crime. During an arrest, you may be handcuffed, brought to a police station or detention facility, and formally charged. Resisting arrest is against the law and can result in additional charges.
