Daily Devotion: Love Prevails
Scripture: If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 JOHN 1:9 NIV
Devotion: What's your weakness? What do you give in to? What mistake do you repeatedly make?
We all have weaknesses. We all sin. But it's our response to sin that's key. Do you retreat from God because you enjoy the sin so much you'd rather wallow in it than walk away from it? Do you beat yourself up with guilt and come up with strategies on how it's never going to happen again? Do you hide it from the world and act like everything is fine, but find yourself buried with shame? Do you go out and have fun because if you forget about it, you'll feel better? There is never a time you'll feel more unworthy to approach God, to sit in your shame and ask for forgiveness, than when you make a mistake. But when weakness wins, love prevails. God's love for you is not dependent on who you are, what you have to offer, or how "good" you are. God loves you. Period. God's love is undeserved and beyond what you could pay for it. But it's there for you, ready and available to experience, if you confess your sins.
Prayer: God, l've messed up-again. Please forgive me. I feel so unworthy, so undeserving. Thank You for revealing to me the depth of Your grace. Amen.
