After the Storm, His Mercies Still Shine.

As our Florida Panhandle community begins the process of recovering after Hurricane Isaias, we are reminded that even in difficult seasons, there is still hope, strength, and a reason to believe in brighter days ahead.

“His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.”
Lamentations 3:22–23

Recovery takes time, and rebuilding takes a community. Whether we are helping a neighbor, checking on loved ones, lending a hand, or simply offering encouragement, every act of kindness makes a difference. Together, we can support one another, restore what was lost, and move forward with faith and determination.

From all of us at Southern Choice Properties, our hearts are with the families, homeowners, and neighbors affected by this storm. May God bring comfort to those facing challenges, strength to those rebuilding, and renewed hope to our entire community.

We are the Panhandle, and we stand stronger together.

THEN & NOW | WALTON COUNTY
Nearly 51 years ago, Walton County faced Hurricane Eloise.

The September 25, 1975 edition of The DeFuniak Herald captured the aftermath with a headline that still hits differently today:

“Hurricane Eloise Slams Walton County.”

Homes and businesses were damaged. Trees and power lines came down. Roads were affected. Communities faced power outages and the difficult work of cleaning up and rebuilding.

Today, Walton County finds itself preparing for another storm.

Different storm. Different decade. Same community.

As Hurricane Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast, the history of storms like Eloise reminds us why preparation matters. Take the time today to secure your property, check on your neighbors, make sure your emergency supplies are ready, and stay tuned to official weather and emergency management updates. Current National Weather Service advisories include hurricane warnings for portions of Walton County, with tropical-storm-force conditions expected Friday into early Saturday. National Weather Service

Our community has weathered storms before. We will get through this one by looking out for each other, staying informed, and being prepared.

Stay safe, Walton County.

Do you remember Hurricane Eloise or have a family story from that storm? Tell us in the comments. We’d love to hear how long your family has called Walton County home.

With Tropical Storm Isaias expected to strengthen as it moves toward the northern Gulf Coast, our area needs to be paying close attention to the forecast. While the exact track and strength can still change, the Florida Panhandle is currently among the areas at risk for strong winds, heavy rainfall, flooding, storm surge and potentially tornadoes.

That means now is the time to prepare, not wait.

Secure outdoor furniture, decorations and loose items
Clear gutters, drains and loose yard debris
Stock up on water and nonperishable food
Check flashlights, batteries and backup chargers
Keep your phone charged and monitor trusted weather updates
Protect important documents and insurance information
Fill up your vehicle and make sure you have what you need
Make a plan for your pets
Check on family, friends and neighbors who may need extra help

Most importantly, don't panic—but don't wait. Forecasts can change quickly, and a few simple preparations today can make a big difference if conditions worsen.

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1

From our family at Southern Choice Properties to yours, please stay informed, stay prepared, and look out for one another. 💙💚
