The Gaza casualty figures have so far been supplied by Hamas. Some people questioned them. First they only reported women and children killed. There were never any men. That seemed strange to a lot of people. Then a reporter noticed that the figures went up by the same amount every day. In a war zone you have the same number killed every day? The UN has reviewed Hamas claim of over 35,000. The UN is now putting the numbers at 4959 women and 7797 children. Still no men. Why not? This story was in USA Today on Bing.

About a year ago I watched a movie
"My Octopus teacher" It was about a South Africian diver who noticed an octopus. He kept going back and watching it. There were some very interesting scenes. It could "flow" around various underwater obstacles, plants, coral, etc. It could very quickly change its skin color to match the background. They can cross "dividers" between pools near the beach.. I was really surprised by the film.
Now there is a Nat'l Geographic film. It has segments on several different breeds of Octopi. Some are very small (golf ball) size. One instead of hiding "flashes" its blue rings. Everything leaves it alone. It has powerful venom.
I recommend either of these films. Very educational. Both are well done.

Today on newsweek. There is a bill in congress to sell off the NE gasoline reserve. It also provides for the end of the program. What kind of "nut case" dreamed this one up? There is a war in Ukraine, another in Israel, The chinese are "saber rattling" over Tiawan. The houthis are shooting at ships attempting to use the Suez canal. The Panama canal is short of water and shipping reduced. I suggest we send whoever dreamed this one up to a Island out in the west end of the Aleuthins Islands.

We usually have a humidifier on in the winter. A problem has been that as the water evaporates a salt/lime residue is left behind. Before we had used repeated washings with a brush to remove it. This time I looked on the internet. I found two suggestions. One was lemon juice. The other was to use a 50/50 mix of rubbing alcohol and white vinegar. I tried the lemon juice first. I was surprised. It started foaming right away. I replaced the lemon juice after it appeared that the first batch had stopped "working". At bedtime I replaced the lemon juice. By morning it had completely cleaned the salt and lime.

Gee what a thought. Robs mom, dad, and sister are in Scotland. Rob is starting a music business. He should have them bring him a set of bagpipes.

Pres. Trump put a lot of federal "oil land" up for lease. He cut regulations regarding drilling and encouraged it. We were producing enough petroleum to sell a lot. Pres. Biden has cut the amount of land being leased a lot. He supposedly wants to cut all offshore leases. He has imposed a lot of new drilling regulations. These actions are supposedly to pacify the "greens". He has tried to get OPEC to increase production. That resulted in a production cutback and probable price increase. He is now trying to get the Venezuelan dictator to produce more. Why do we want to support a brutal dictator whose oil probably isn't produce per EPA standards. When he could put more land up for lease and relax the EPA regs to get US production up? Why is he released oil from the strategic reserve? The reserve is for real national emergencies not for political handouts.

A post on line about battery replacement in EVs. First how big is the battery. Larger ones require more materials to make, they cost more. Then where in the vehicle did they put it? Some are easy to remove. Some are a lot harder. Jeep's are between the frame rails and protected by steel plates, and a lot harder to remove.
