Insurance fraud doesn’t operate in silos—and fighting it requires seeing the bigger picture.

Roig Lawyers Partner Jordana Kahn recently joined Kristin Thorne on the iFraud Foundation’s insights. intouch. to discuss the growing threat of staged accidents and organized insurance fraud in Florida, including patterns similar to those already seen in New York.

Drawing on her experience as a former prosecutor and her work combating complex fraud schemes, Jordana discusses how recurring providers, law firms, clinics, claimants, addresses, and treatment patterns can reveal connections that may not be visible when claims are viewed individually.

The conversation also explores the targeting of high-limit commercial and gig-economy policies, evolving fraud tactics, and the critical role of collaboration between SIUs and defense counsel.

Meet Scott Browner, our amazing Sr. Staff Accountant who has been with the since 2014!

We asked what Scott loves about his job, he states, “ I believe I bring a good amount of knowledge and experience to the firm. When I started with the firm, I was able to do my job by hitting the ground running, and I haven’t slowed down since. What I love about my job, and my department, is that we get to be involved in many areas and work with almost everyone within the firm. I thrive to be true “constant” in everyone’s mind, so they know they can rely and depend on me for answers and results. Over the many years of being with the firm, I have formed relationships with so many people. You get to know people better and form those relationships by striking up conversations. There are so many people still with the firm who were here before I started, which is a true testament to the leadership, loyalty, and dedication of everyone.’

Outside of work, Scott states, “I played sports all my life. I didn’t play just for fun and exercise, I wanted to master the sport and learn all the technical aspects so I would be the ultimate team player. The only organized sport I played was soccer, which I played as a child up until the age of 17. In my adult years I played racquetball, beach volleyball, and recently Pickleball. Over the years, I played in multiple racquetball and volleyball tournaments and did fairly well. My new passion, or maybe my obsession, is playing Pickleball, which I try to play 2-3 times a week.”
