Why is Governor Desantis making it easier to gain access to guns? He is advocating a law where guns can be purchase without permits and lowering the age to purchase a gun to 18 YOA, in spite of the increasing carnage from gun violence in Florida. As a criminal defense attorney, I wonder whether there is a hidden racial agenda in these bills to take more black males out of society, either through death or life-imprisonment. Whether an agernda or not, putting more guns on the streets would have this impact on black communities. I am not blaming society for the bad and stupid decisions of many black males to resolve conflict with guns. However, laws that make guns more accessible to them will increase the suffering of their bad decisions. DeSantis should be more concern with the safety of Floridians rather than courting maga Trump cult members.

I once studied for a PhD in American and African-American Studies. at the University of Iowa. As a result, I am disturbed by the efforts of Governor Desantis to suppress the studiy of Black History because it might be offensive to Whites--the reality of Black History has been oppressive and even deadly for Blacks. Maybe, Whites who deny their roles in Black economic and political oppression would see the errors of their thoughts and acts by a large dose of Black History.
Someone once said that if Desantis is not a white supremacist, the white supremacists believe that he is one of them. The first thing that all wannabe tyrants do is to suppress free speech and information that is not align with their goals. Desantis has a national agenda of white natiinalism. All Americans, Black and White, Gay and straight, must rally to keep freedom alive.
