New Vetting Process at USCIS Likely Resulting in a “Hold” on Many Adjudications.
On April 27, 2026, immigration attorneys began reporting a nationwide hold on USCIS adjudications, likely tied to a new security vetting process requiring resubmission of fingerprints for many pending cases. Early reports suggest impacts across adjustment of status and asylum cases, though the scope may be broader and could affect most USCIS adjudications.

We are pleased to share some important updates regarding our firm. After many years of extraordinary service as Managing Partner, David F. Vedder will be transitioning to the role of Of Counsel and continue service to our clients as Senior Immigration Attorney. In this new role, Mr. Vedder will continue to share his deep knowledge, insight, and experience with our clients and team, while focusing on select matters that inspire him most.

In addition, the law firm has changed its name to Vedder & Jattan, P.A. and proudly announces that Veronica M. Jattan will assume the role of Managing Partner. Ms. Jattan has long been a guiding force within our firm; her leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to our clients make her the ideal person to lead us into the future.

We are also pleased to welcome Ryan Kosobucki as a Partner of the firm. Mr. Kosobucki has dedicated his entire career to the practice of immigration law solving complex immigration matters, providing strategic advice to professionals, investors, businesses, and their families.

USCIS announced updates regarding the naturalization civics test.
Applicants who file Form N-400 before Oct. 20, 2025 will take the 2008 naturalization civics test.
Applicants who file Form N-400 on or after Oct. 20, 2025, will take the 2025 naturalization civics test.
