Students from St. Barnabas Episcopal School visited the Volusia County Courthouse in DeLand for a mock trial hosted by Judge Katherine Miller.

The students presented the case of Gold E. Locks and had the opportunity to step into courtroom roles. Public Defender Matt Metz and Assistant State Attorney Lucas Lee stopped by to meet with the group, and Sarah Grover, Executive Director of the Volusia County Bar Association, provided snacks for the students.

The visit also included a meeting with a Sheriff’s Office K-9 team.

Forty circuit and county court races will go to voters on the August 18 primary ballot. More than 250 circuit and county judge seats were uncontested. The Bar News has compiled a list of those elected unopposed and those running using court and election resources.
