King Hall Negotiations Team

The King Hall Negotiations Team (KHNT) was founded to recognize the utility of alternative dispute resolution skills as they relate to legal practice.

The King Hall Negotiations Team organizes and hosts multiple events throughout the year that further the development of ADR skills and awareness within the law school community, including the annual King Hall Negotiations Intra-School Competition. KHNT works to educate and train students on the arts of negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and client counseling pertaining to a wide range of situati

ons including contract disputes, public relations management, and family dispute resolution. By regularly hosting speakers and skills training workshops from throughout the legal profession, students, faculty, and guests engage in educational lectures and discussions. Further, organizing biannual intraschool competitions and preparing team members for national competitions provides invaluable practical skills training to current King Hall students.

The California Lawyers Association Environmental Law Negotiation Competition was held on March 6, 2026 at UC Law San Francisco in San Francisco, California. KHNT was proud to send Dawna Badie and Pendar Salemi to compete as a team and represent UC Davis School of Law.

Judges praised the competitors for effectively taking control of the negotiation and ensuring the discussions remained productive and forward-moving. Judges also noted that the team was well prepared and demonstrated confidence in using the facts throughout the negotiation.

The team extends a heartfelt thank you to Practitioner Advisors Samantha Ramadan and Sinporion Phuong. They also express deep gratitude to KHNT Competition Chair and Student Coach Steven Li, Professor Lin, and the members of KHNT for their invaluable support in sparring and preparing for the competition.

This competition provided us a valuable opportunity to develop our skills, and we were honored to represent UC Davis!

The 18th annual Intraschool Negotiations Competition was held at UC Davis School of Law on February 28, 2026. The King Hall Negotiations Team hosted 28 teams of highly motivated students. Thank you to Internal Competition Chairs Julie Tran and Cameron Lane, Judge Liason Boris Atanassov, and Faculty Advisor Sarah McBride for contributing their time and effort to ensure a successful Intraschool Negotiations Competition. Well done to all teams!

This last weekend, KHNT hosted our annual Intraschool Negotiations Competition. A huge thank you to all the competitors who poured their time, skill, and passion into this competition—your dedication exemplifies the talent and excellence of UC Davis Law students.

🏆 This past weekend, Lorraine Wong (’25) & Matthew Kermin (’25) competed in the ABA Client Counseling Regionals, taking home 3rd place! Judges praised their supportive client counseling style and seamless teamwork. ⚖️

This past weekend, Olivia and Nicole competed at the ABA Negotiations National Competition in Chicago. They were one of only 24 teams nation-wide to qualify!
